Amanda is working one day a week with us on Mondays afternoons via zoom.
Amanda received her four-year degree in psychology from the University of New England. She trained in a variety of clinical settings, including a child and adolescent outpatient unit, residential care settings, and private practice. The focus of her clinical training has been providing individual and group therapy, as well as conducting psychological assessments (including, cognitive, personality, and ADHD assessments). Amanda is currently completing her AHPRA accredited psychologist internship at Mindspot Psychology & EMDR under the direct supervision of Board Approved Supervisor, Natalie Single, Principal Psychologist.
The scope of her career includes working in a residential care setting with adolescents presenting with complex trauma, emerging personality traits, and grief and loss. Amanda also provides Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training in out-of-home care and disability settings. She has spent her time working in private practice, providing Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR - Level 1 training) and psychological assessments for children and adults.
Amanda has a special interest in treating older children, teens and adults with anxiety, mood and personality disorders, including social anxiety, generalised anxiety, phobias, panic disorder, agoraphobia, post-traumatic stress disorder, and depression. She also works with clients struggling to make difficult life transitions. Amanda uses evidence-based techniques to overcome problematic thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Amanda has completed Level 1 EMDR therapy training for trauma. Therapy is tailored to meet each individual's specific needs and short-term goals, as well as help clients to build tools for long-term balance and well-being.
