Dr Megan Carters is a Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA, AHPRA) with Clinical Area of Practice Endorsement. She is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Megan completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Australian National University. She has worked as a psychologist in government and private clinic settings, and psychology lecturer/tutor, in Australia and internationally. In addition, Megan is a board (PsyBA)-approved supervisor for Registrars seeking Clinical Area of Practice Endorsement and for postgraduate clinical psychology student placements.
Megan tailors her interventions to the individual after establishing a collaborative understanding of the key issues and goals. She works primarily from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) perspective. She has extensive training and experience in this approach, as well other evidence-based interventions including parent training interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Schema Therapy. She works with adults, adolescents, and children with their parents/guardians, on a wide variety of issues including anxiety, stress, depression, and relationship and parenting difficulties.
A key area of Megan’s practice is working with people with body image issues and eating disorders. For eating disorders and related issues, she offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – Enhanced (CBT-E), Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM), and Maudsley Family Based Treatment (FBT).
