Leanne is a counsellor, psychotherapist, and mental health educator with a deep belief in the right of each person to be mentally healthy, supported, valued, and thrive. Currently in private practice, Leanne has extensive experience working in industry, education, and the state government.
With lived experience of chronic illness, Leanne is passionate about working with people navigating journeys of identity and sense of self, grief and loss, and reimagining a future. Her role as an international technical official for weightlifting drives her passion to increase mental health literacy in sport.
Leanne’s counselling style is compassion-focused, person-centred, and trauma-aware. While reflective listening underpins all sessions, she uses an integrated approach depending on the individual needs of each person. Leanne recognises each person’s unique lived experiences, and the strengths, aspirations, and values they bring on their counselling and life journey.
Leanne is trained in Compassion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk, and Motivational Interviewing.
Leanne’s hope for each client is that they know they have a safe, welcoming, and calm space to explore what matters to them and for them to leave each session with increased insight, validation, and self-compassion.
