Karen works with older teenagers and adults, helping them to better manage the stressors and challenges of everyday life. Karen is experienced working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, mood issues, self esteem issues, stress / burn out, grief & loss and pain. Karen has particular experience in workplace issues including career direction, interpersonal / relationship difficulties, bullying, workload, confidence and stress management. Karen thoroughly enjoys working with clients at all levels in an organisation and can also provide sessions focused on coaching clients through career and work-related issues.
Karen utilises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), along with a range of other techniques relevant to the individual client. Karen focuses on an individual's strengths to help clients build interpersonal, communication and self-management skills to increase confidence to move forward. Karen’s approach is based on a belief that individuals are happiest and contribute best when they can be themselves and when relationships are strong- being heard, better understanding who they are and how they think, and learning that they control their own responses to situations is very empowering.
Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Hons), a Masters of Organisational Psychology from the University of Queensland, as well as a Diplomas in Neuroscience and Clinical Hypnosis.
