Joanne Chapman—known warmly as Jo—is a compassionate, down-to-earth counsellor supporting adults and young people through life’s many challenges. With over 20 years' experience counselling adolescents aged 12 and above, Jo brings a calm, grounded presence and a deep understanding of the emotional needs of both teens and adults.
Jo offers general counselling and wellbeing support for individuals facing stress, anxiety, low mood, trauma, anger, family and relationship concerns, confidence issues, life transitions, and the everyday struggles of being human. She creates a safe, non-judgemental space for people to reflect, connect, and work towards positive change.
Having worked in education and pastoral care for over 15 years, Jo was inspired to become a professional counsellor later in life—driven by her genuine desire to help others. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education, a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health and Wellbeing, and a Master of Counselling.
Jo’s therapeutic approach is person-centred and humanistic, drawing on evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Strengths-Based Counselling, and Narrative Therapy. She honours each client’s individuality and works collaboratively to explore their goals, build insight, and support a greater sense of wellbeing.
Whether you're navigating a difficult season or simply need someone to walk alongside you, Jo offers skilled, authentic support to help you feel heard, empowered, and connected.
