Andy Brennan(He/him)

Psychologist

I’m Andy Brennan, a registered psychologist based in Melbourne. I work with adolescents and adults from a wide range of backgrounds, including students, athletes, professionals, and those navigating everyday life challenges, to help them function effectively under pressure while maintaining their wellbeing over time. My approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), alongside principles from sport and performance psychology. I commonly support clients experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress and burnout, motivation difficulties, emotional regulation challenges, interpersonal concerns, and periods of life transition or uncertainty. I have a particular interest in working with individuals in high-demand or high-expectation environments, where identity, performance, and self-worth can become closely intertwined. In our work together, I aim to create a space that is both supportive and purposeful. Sessions are collaborative, practical, and focused on building skills that translate into everyday life. My goal is to help clients better understand their patterns, respond more effectively to challenges, and move toward what matters to them in a sustainable way.

Adults and older teens often come to me when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, or are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, workplace stress, relationship difficulties, or life transitions. At Framework Psychology, we provide thoughtful, evidence-based support tailored to the individual, helping clients better understand their difficulties, build coping skills, and move toward greater clarity, stability and confidence. I’m a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience working with older adolescents and adults. I offer therapy for a range of emotional and mental health difficulties, using evidence-based approaches including CBT, CPT, motivational interviewing, interpersonal and psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as medicolegal assessment services. My approach is warm, respectful and collaborative. I aim to meet people where they are. If you’re looking for thoughtful support and a place to begin making sense of what’s happening, I welcome you getting in contact. My qualifications include a Master of Psychology (Clinical) from the University of Ballarat, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from Australian Catholic University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) from RMIT. Alongside my work in private practice, I am a senior lecturer with The Cairnmillar Institute. I have previously held other positions in academia, multidisciplinary clinics, rehabilitation services, and public hospitals. I am a current member of the Australian Psychological Society and have been a Board Approved Supervisor since 2013. I support workplaces with assessment services for early intervention and support, and injury management (psychological fitness for work/fitness for duty). I undertake medicolegal assessments and reports, including for psychological IMEs and functional capacity assessments, SRC Act s36 Rehabilitation Assessments, and ACT workers’ compensation.
