Sometimes words are hard to find. Art Therapy can help to make sense of the world and give expression to experiences through different creative processes. These processes include drawing, painting, clay work, sand play, collage, dance & movement, or voice work.
The focus of Art Therapy is not diagnosis or to produce a high-quality artwork. It allows issues to emerge through creativity, in a safe, non-threatening and supported way. It can be one to one with the Art Therapist, or in groups, or whole families.
Art therapy builds self-awareness, and by using it as a therapeutic approach, the Art Therapist can facilitate the development of coping strategies for the stresses and anxieties in life. It can also help to explore emotions and their impact on others.
