Tricia Ang

Psychotherapist

Tricia is a qualified art therapist and body-oriented psychotherapist (PACFA clinical member, EMDRAA full member) with over 11 years of clinical experience in paediatric, educational, mental health and trauma recovery settings. She specialises in assisting children, adolescents and adults to heal and transform from trauma (PTSD, complex trauma, abuse, neglect, shocking/terrifying events), early attachment disruptions, stress/overwhelm/burnout, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, relational issues, disordered eating, self-esteem issues, identity issues, life transitions, grief and loss, and lack of purpose. Through extensive personal and professional experience, Tricia has gained a profound appreciation of the interconnected nature of our mental, emotional, physical and energetic bodies; and how we are impacted by our relationships with one another and our environment. This has led to her commitment to work holistically in support of the body’s native intelligence coming into balance and harmony, so as to facilitate healing and transformation that deepens the experience of a richly fulfilling life that is characterised by a sense of innate aliveness, wholeness, personal power, wellbeing, freedom, joy and purpose. Tricia offers a safe therapeutic container for individuals to explore their struggles and expand their connection with different aspects of their full selves through creative/expressive and body-oriented/somatic therapies that are informed by leading-edge research in neuroscience, attachment and trauma. These include art therapy, play therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing), and Havening Technique. Her approach is client-centred, trauma-responsive, strengths-based and culturally-sensitive. Her style is respectful, compassionate, collaborative and creative. She honours her client’s unique experience and innate capacity to heal and grow, and she creates the space for them and their nervous system to do so at their own pace, while supporting them to strengthen their internal and external resources. She invites mindfulness and curiosity in her therapy sessions whilst issues are explored collaboratively and creatively, with a focus on the client’s cognitive, emotional and somatic experience during the process.
