Illawarra Yoga (and Psychology)

Overview

I’m a AHPRA registered Psychologist based in the Illawarra (Home Visits, Walk and Talk and Telehealth available). I am also a qualified Yoga teacher offering trauma and mental health informed yoga classes. I am here to guide you through life’s most complex and difficult matters and to help you learn life-enhancing skills. I love what I do and truly care about my clients’ well-being. I take a honest, collaborative approach to therapy where I work with them rather than on-them. I also attempt to bring a sense of humour to therapy and to work at an intensity level suited to you.  I have experience treating a wide range of mental health issues and working with children, adolescents and adults. I also work with clients from all backgrounds, genders and sexual orientations. For several years I have worked at the Child Adolescents Mental Health Service with families and clients with a high level of complexity including but not limited to, trauma, suicidality, self-harm, gender dysphoria, anxiety and eating disorders. I now also work part time at a Private Mental health hospital where I write and run group therapy programs. This work has fueled my passion for working collaboratively with individuals support networks and for alleviating suffering. In working collaboratively I am guided by my clients' goals and treatment preferences. I acknowledge lived experience and that you are the ultimate expert on you.  I can also be quite directive for clients who are struggling or feel lost and want some straight forward advice on how to make life changes or overcome barriers and stressors in their lives. I believe that a strong, trusting relationship between clients and their treatment team is fundamental to a positive therapy experience and outcomes. It is a very privileged position to have people sharing their hopes, fears, memories and joys and I will work with you to make this process as enjoyable as possible. I see the best in people even when they feel at their worst and help them learn to see it too. I can provide services under Medicare, Private NDIS plans and Private Health Insurance. Get in touch with me today for more information. I am also a qualified Yoga teacher and teach mental health informed yoga classes in Dapto and Kanahooka. These classes promotes trauma recovery and holistic wellbeing.
