Dr Saira Khan Rheumatologist

Dr. Khan is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician based in Lahore and is currently working as a Clinical Director Services at Arthritis Care Foundation Pakistan. She specialises in the acute and long term management of all rheumatological conditions like Rheumatoid Arthritis, Spondyloarthropathies, Psoriatic arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Gout/Pseudo-gout, Vasculitidies, Osteoporosis, Soft tissue rheumatism, and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. Her other specialist interests include the diagnosis and the treatment of conditions like Fibromyalgia, Sjogren syndrome, Vasculitis, Giant Cell Arteritis, and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.  In addition to managing the above-mentioned conditions, she is an expert on the management of Macrophage Activation Syndrome and has presented her case studies at various international meetings. ​ Dr. Khan has a strong academic interest and continuously strives to improve her skills and knowledge. She is an excellent teacher and has actively engaged in promoting and highlighting the early identification and treatment of rheumatological diseases. She remains passionate about education and has devised and led several training courses for both students, general practitioner's and trainees in the field of rheumatology. ​ She has authored several papers and presented at both national and international conferences. Moreover, she has also been invited as a guest speaker and represented her country at international moots. She has been actively working as the general secretary for the Pakistan Society of Rheumatology from 2016-2019. ​ Dr. Khan has previously chaired Research Grants Meetings and was successful in obtaining funding from the International League Against Rheumatism (ILAR).  Dr. Khan is well respected for her voluntary work and actively runs free rheumatology clinics for the disadvantaged. She has been working as a Director Services of Arthritis Care Foundation, a registered charity established to provide access of world-class treatment to the underprivileged regardless of their sex, religion, caste, or colour, and without prejudice.
