Profile Dr Skeffington is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice and a Senior Lecturer (Acting Head of Counselling Discipline) at Murdoch University. She has researched PTSD, resilience to trauma, creative approaches to healing, treatment of non-suicidal self-injury and OCD. Dr Skeffington has tutored and lectured on research methods, non-suicidal self-injury and professional practice in both undergraduate and postgraduate university courses. She currently lectures in Masters level Trauma Counselling and Principles of Counselling units at Murdoch University. Dr Skeffington has worked extensively in the field of trauma, including PTSD, and the impact of trauma on individuals, partners and families. She also has extensive experience with FIFO work and its associated effects on family and mental health. Experience Sessional academic & research co-ordinator at Curtin University of Technology. Co-ordinating a clinical trial for the treatment of non-suicidal self-injury. Current and past tutoring and lecturing in trauma, principles of counselling, research methods and professional practice. Supervision of students on internal placement at Murdoch University. Sessional academic & guest lecturer at the University of WA and Murdoch University (2011-2013) Private Practice (current) Providing Clinical Psychologist services in a primary health care setting.
