Dr Namrata Shetty Psychiatrist

Dr Namrata Shetty is a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and holds a Fellowship Certificate in Psychiatry of Old Age. She has extensive experience in general adult and old age psychiatry, with a keen interest in psychopharmacology and psychiatric issues seen in the adult and the elderly including neurocognitive disorders. Dr Shetty is a budding researcher with her work focussing in Psychiatric Disorders within the Geriatric population. She has been trained in Conversational Model, which is a form of Psychodynamic Therapy that is among the best validated of all psychotherapies currently being practised. In line with her interest in promoting understanding of psychiatric conditions, she conducts educational sessions for General Practice Medical Specialists in addition to being an examiner for medical students with the University of Newcastle. Her expertise are the areas of Adult ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, Depression (including Mood Disorders such as Bipolar Disorder), Personality Disorders, Psychosis, Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) and Capacity Assessments. Dr Shetty offers assessment, formulation and treatment for patients over 18 years of age through inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr Shetty has admitting rights and on the Medical Advisory Board at Waratah Private Hospital and is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Psychogeriatric Unit in Braeside Hospital.
