Overview

I am looking forward to getting to know you, your strengths, and your challenges. I value the privilege you allow me of sitting alongside as you build a fulfilling life, that you feel equipped to handle. I believe good therapy must be rooted in a strong therapeutic relationship, so that you feel heard and held. A solid therapeutic alliance, in which you feel valued and respected, is the vehicle through which we can make lasting change to the way you feel, think, and act in your life. I am committed to hearing you and helping you find meaningful action. Michelle holds a Masters of Clinical Psychology and PhD from the University of Western Australia. She retains an active research profile into sleep disorders, mood problems, and brain dysfunction, across the lifespan. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Medicare, and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Michelle is trained in several evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Gentle Methods of Self-Soothing for infant sleep (GeMSS). Michelle has worked with a diverse range of clients including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She has extensive experience working with people with mental health difficulties with co-morbid sleep, diet, and activity problems. Michelle has a keen interest to work with people with low mood, self-esteem, anxiety, adult attention-deficit disorder, and interpersonal difficulties. She has worked within private clinics, sleep centres, and university settings. She relies heavily on a person’s “village” to create social-emotional well-being, which may, with client permission, take the form of contact with other medical professionals, families, workplaces, or schools.
