Dr Lee Kannis qualified at the University of Canterbury (NZ) with a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology and a Doctorate in Psychology, as well as, completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Therapy at the University of Oxford, England. He has worked in a number of clinical settings in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom. In the UK he worked at The Priory, as well as the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma at the Maudsley Hospital. In New Zealand he divided his time between working at the Anxiety Disorders Unit for the Canterbury District Health Board and private practice at The Anxiety Clinic and Centre for Cognitive Therapy. His New Zealand experience previously included working for the Department of Corrections Psychological Service. At present, Lee works in private practice on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, as well as, teaching and supervising in psychology at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Lee, along with Associate Professor Janet D. Carter (University of Canterbury, NZ) has authored the self-help book How to Deal with Anxiety: A 5-step, CBT-based plan for overcoming generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and worry.
