Qualifications
Dr Leah George is an Australian-born, Australian-trained psychiatrist with a comprehensive background in adult mental health. Originally from Melbourne, Dr George holds a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery from Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. She has undertaken advanced training in Forensic Psychiatry and maintains a strong interest in complex presentations across forensic and general psychiatric settings.
Working Experience
Dr. George has substantial experience working with adult populations, with particular clinical interest in the assessment and management of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in women. She also works part-time in a women’s correctional facility, providing psychiatric care in a specialised and intersectional context that frequently involves trauma, comorbid psychiatric conditions, and substance misuse. Her approach is grounded in evidence-based practice and delivered within a biopsychosocial framework, tailored to meet the diverse needs of individuals presenting with mood, anxiety, trauma-related, neurodevelopmental, psychotic, and substance use disorders. Dr. George is committed to thorough psychiatric evaluation and collaborative treatment planning that supports recovery and long-term wellbeing.
