Overview

Dr Juliane Pariz Dr Juliane Pariz is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist and an AHPRA-registered, Psychology Board–approved supervisor across all registration pathways. With more than 15 years of dedicated work with children, adolescents (aged 17 and under), and families, she brings a rare blend of extensive clinical experience and strong research foundations to her practice on the Gold Coast. Her approach ensures that young people and their families receive evidence-based, compassionate, and individually tailored care. Dr Pariz fosters a warm, non-judgmental therapeutic space where children, adolescents, and families feel heard, understood, and supported. She values close collaboration with referring GPs, providing comprehensive feedback and regular progress updates to support coordinated care. Families describe her work as practical, strengths-based, and empowering—helping parents build confidence and helping young people develop resilience. Clinical Expertise and Approach Dr Pariz has worked across diverse clinical environments, including public health services, paediatric hospitals, university psychology clinics, and private practice in both Brazil and Australia. Her therapeutic work is grounded in attachment-based and trauma-informed models, schema therapy, neuro-affirming principles, family systems frameworks, and cognitive-behavioural approaches. These foundations allow her to respond sensitively and effectively to a broad range of presenting concerns. Her work with Indigenous families in Australia has strengthened her cultural awareness and her commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed practice. Dr Pariz also has specialised expertise in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), providing targeted intervention for externalising behaviours, such as ADHD-related challenges and emotional or behavioural dysregulation. Her approach recognises the central role of family systems, attachment patterns, and everyday interactions in shaping children’s wellbeing. She works closely with parents and caregivers to support meaningful, lasting change. Research and Academic Contributions Dr Pariz’s clinical practice is deeply informed by her extensive background in developmental psychology and youth mental health research. She completed both a clinical and a research master’s degree in psychology in Brazil, followed by a PhD at Griffith University examining the developmental origins of antisocial behaviour in children and adolescents. She continues to contribute to research at the University of Queensland’s National Centre for Youth Substance Use Research, focusing on parenting practices, adolescent substance use, and early intervention. As a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southern Queensland, she teaches and supervises within postgraduate psychology programs. Integrating research with practice, Dr Pariz ensures her therapeutic work reflects the most current evidence. She has published in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as childhood aggression, parenting interventions, youth substance use, and developmental psychopathology.
