Overview

Josie is a Clinical Psychologist, a Board-approved supervisor, and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Josie has a Bachelor of Science Psychology with First Class Honours and a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from the University of Canberra. Her PhD thesis examined causal beliefs about mental illness, and how these beliefs impact perceptions of, and stigma towards, mental illness and the treatment process. Josie has worked with people of all ages and all life stages in a variety of settings, and has over a decade of experience in working with adolescents, young adults, and families within community mental health settings. Josie works in a genuine, warm and non-judgemental manner. She uses a range of client centered therapeutic approaches which are relational and emotion focused. Josie has training in cognitive behavioural therapies including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT). Josie enjoys working with people to overcome challenges in their lives including struggles with managing their emotions. She believes that everyone is unique and enjoys forming a genuine relationship to help work with people towards reaching their goals and creating a life full of value and meaning. Josie offers therapy and treatment to people who are experiencing depression and low mood, interpersonal problems and difficulties with relationships, anxiety and stress, challenges related to personality disorders, low self-esteem or self-worth, emotion dysregulation, adjustment and transition issues, school-related problems, work stress, parenting difficulties and family-related conflict.
