Overview

Heather is a Clinical Psychologist with a PhD in Clinical Psychologist, and has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across various settings including university child and adult clinics, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, private practice and Headspace. Heather adopts a nurturing, rapport-based, client-centred approach in the therapy room, aiming to build a safe and open environment for her clients. Heather has worked with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders, trauma, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, phobias, major life stresses, and relationship difficulties. She has run group therapy at a private mental health hospital in Wollongong for individuals with borderline personality disorder and mood disorders. Heather has worked with children experiencing anxiety, depression, behavioural issues, autism spectrum disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bullying, and trauma. She has also provided parenting support and run group programmes for parents of children with behavioural concerns. Heather’s doctoral thesis focuses on children’s understanding and experience of moral emotions, taking into account cross-cultural parenting practices. Treatment modalities Heather uses include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and schema-informed therapy.
