Dr Allison R. King – Lead Psychologist – Neurodevelopment & Complex Presentations Dr Allison R. King is a Registered Psychologist (AHPRA), psychotherapist, researcher and author. Internationally trained across psychology, psychotherapy, neuroscience and neurodevelopment, she holds a Doctorate in Psychology and Psychotherapy, a Master of Science in Psychology with Distinction, postgraduate training in Neuroscience and Psychology from King's College London, advanced clinical education in the Care of Autistic Adults through Harvard Medical School, and a Master of Business Administration. Dr King works with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families experiencing complex psychological presentations, neurodevelopmental differences, trauma, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, mood difficulties, relationship concerns and adjustment to significant life transitions. Dr King has particular clinical interests in autism, ADHD, giftedness, twice-exceptionality, trauma, attachment, emotional regulation and presentations where developmental, psychological, medical, family, cultural and environmental factors overlap. Her approach is collaborative, formulation-driven, trauma-informed, neuroaffirming and evidence-based. She works with clients to understand the patterns maintaining distress, strengthen insight and agency, and develop practical strategies for meaningful and sustainable change. Dr King provides psychological therapy, psychological assessment, diagnostic clarification, psychometric assessment, behavioural assessment, personality assessment and neurodevelopmental assessment. Her work integrates developmental history, neurodevelopmental factors, trauma history, attachment patterns, cognition, behaviour, family systems, culture and environmental context. Therapeutic approaches may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, attachment-informed therapy, compassion-focused interventions and other evidence-based psychological therapies matched to each client's formulation, goals and clinical needs. Dr King has practised clinically in Australia and Switzerland and has professional experience across refugee and immigrant mental health, disaster mental health counselling, transnational counselling, group psychotherapy, addiction treatment, neuropsychology, community mental health and multidisciplinary mental health care. Her research interests include belonging, identity, trauma, neurodiversity, relationships, affect regulation and psychological adaptation across major life transitions. She developed *Transformative Acculturation*, an original theoretical framework arising from her doctoral research examining identity, agency, belonging and relationships following trauma, displacement and significant life transitions. Dr King has contributed to international research collaborations involving King's College London, Imperial College London, the University of Cambridge and the University Hospital of Basel, including a multi-site ADHD biomarker study. Prior to psychology, Dr King held senior executive, engineering and governance roles within multinational organisations including Swiss Re and AB InBev/SABMiller, bringing extensive leadership and organisational experience to clinical practice. Services include psychological therapy, psychological assessment, diagnostic clarification, psychometric assessment, neurodevelopmental assessment, behavioural assessment, personality assessment, telehealth consultations, psychological reports and professional letters. Reports and letters are available upon request and may attract additional fees. Dr King welcomes referrals for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. Appointments are available with or without a GP referral. Medicare rebates are available with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan. NDIS participants and EAP clients are welcome.
