Overview

Alex is a Sydney-based clinical neuropsychologist with 20 years of expertise in neuropsychological assessment and cognitive rehabilitation for adults and adolescents (16+) with a range of neurological, mental health and acquired brain conditions. He has a passion for assisting patients and their referrers to understand their cognitive strengths, challenges and diagnoses by offering a considered and comprehensive assessment process – which includes a face-to-face interview, carefully selected testing measures, and clear, detailed feedback and recommendations. Alex works with patients to assist in diagnosing and identifying disorders (or differences) of cognition associated with dementia, mental illness, head injury, stroke, epilepsy, ADHD, intellectual disability, autism spectrum, drug and alcohol, general neurological, general neurosurgical and general medical conditions. He is a registered NDIS provider who works with new and existing clients and support coordinators to assess and make treatment recommendations. In addition to his role as principal at Focus Neuropsychology, Alex holds an appointment as Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist at Uniting War Memorial Hospital, Waverley, a rehabilitation hospital where he provides diagnostic assessment focusing on cognitive impairment in older adults, as well as leading patient education on healthy brain ageing and memory training, and teaching students. Alex has previously held senior positions at Westmead Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, KaRa Institute of Neurological Diseases and Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney. He regularly provides clinical supervision and training, has published research in peer-reviewed journals and presented at both national and international conferences.
