Dr Tong is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. His formal training in the world of dermatology began in Western Australia and subsequently in New South Wales where I had the unique opportunity to be the inaugural Dean's Fellow in Dermatology, a collaboration with The University of Sydney.
he has gained experience at top institutions, including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, St Vincent's Hospital, Liverpool, and Westmead Hospitals. During this time, I also completed my PhD in advanced biomedical imaging and skin immunology at the Centenary Institute.
Before obtaining his specialist qualifications, he had the privilege of training in dermatology departments in Perth, Melbourne, and even all the way in London at the renowned St John's Institute of Dermatology at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital.
His current appointments include Visiting Medical Officer at St Vincent's Hospital, Deputy Director of Research, The Skin Hospital and Group Leader, Digital Dermatology Imaging Program, at UNSW Medicine, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
Although his early research focus was in melanoma, his focus now is utilising technology in the early detection of skin cancer. I also support rural and remote Australia through a virtual care platform and sought after national and international speaker and educator for AusDoc, MedicineToday, MedEd Series, HealthEd and GPCE.
