Christina Damicoucas Psychologist

Christina Damicoucas is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA), and hold a Masters in Clinical Psychology. Christina is also a current member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and registered with Medicare to provide services under the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. ​ Christina’s approach to therapy and client care focusses on tailoring treatment to the specific needs of the individual. She values the importance of treating the individual as a whole, rather than treating a psychological issue in isolation. She prioritises creating a safe space in therapy, and building self-awareness and self-efficacy with her clients in a collaborative way. Christina works with adolescents and adults, and works with a variety of presentations including anxiety, stress, depression, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, perfectionism, grief/loss, anger, emotion regulation, self-esteem issues, and relationship issues. She also has experience and a particular interest in treating eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and other specified feeding or eating disorders. She advocates for healthy body image and a holistic approach to wellbeing. Christina uses a range of evidence-based treatments, based on their appropriateness to the individual, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She also uses Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-E) in treating eating disorders.
