Chloe McCarthy(She/They)

Social Worker

Chloe (she/they) is a qualified Social Worker with over seven years of experience as a counsellor and advocate. They specialise in supporting people impacted by trauma, discrimination, grief, loss, and gender-based violence, offering a safe, non-judgemental space for healing and growth. Their approach acknowledges that we are complex, unique humans with inherent strengths and deep knowledge about our own healing. You can expect warmth, gentleness, and healthy doses of humour, along with the opportunity to move through your therapy journey at a pace that feels right for you. Informed by lived experience of gender-queerness, open relationships, and being a person of colour, Chloe brings a deep understanding and appreciation of life in the in-between/liminal spaces. Their work and study centres on identity, belonging, and the ways power and dominant social narratives shape wellbeing as well as focusing on increasing people’s capacity to engage with joy and hope. Chloe’s practice draws on a blend of therapeutic modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Somatic approaches. They have completed Intermediate training in Somatic Experiencing and are currently undertaking the Advanced module. Of Egyptian and Irish ancestry, Chloe acknowledges that they live and work on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people. They have also been fortunate to spend the past six years living and working on Arrernte and Larrakia Country, and welcome telehealth bookings from folks based there or elsewhere around the world! At the Brunswick office Chloe welcomes referrals from individuals, couples, and young people (12+).
