Dr Carlota Espejo Diaz is a Consultant Paediatrician and Fellow of the Royal Australasian
College of Physicians. She completed her medical degree and specialist training in general
paediatrics in Spain before life — and marrying an Aussie — brought her to Australia, where
she undertook further specialist training in general paediatrics. She has experience across
general paediatrics, neonatal medicine, developmental and behavioural paediatrics, and child
and adolescent health.
Carlota has a warm, collaborative and family-centred approach to care. She is particularly
interested in developmental and behavioural paediatrics, including ADHD, autism, learning
differences, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, and the impact these can have on a
child’s day-to-day life at home and school. She enjoys working closely with families,
schools, psychologists, allied health professionals and other supports to better understand
each child’s strengths and challenges, and to develop practical, realistic management plans.
Outside of work, Carlota enjoys travelling, diving, being outdoors, pottery, and spending time
with her husband, friends, her dog Kuma, and her cat Leo. She brings a down-to-earth and
compassionate approach to her work, and feels strongly about helping children and families
feel heard, understood and supported.
