Mark is a registered psychologist, holding a Master of Psychology (Clinical), and is presently completing his clinical registrar program. He has worked with a variety of clients in private practice, including children, adolescents, and adults. He has worked with people from various cultural backgrounds, neurodiverse individuals, and people from the LGBTQIA+ community. Before becoming a psychologist, Mark worked as a professional musician and private music teacher for over 10 years.
Mark believes in three key principles in therapy and follows these closely in practice. 1) Clients deserve to be respected, understood, and have autonomy. 2) The practice of psychology should be evidence-based, where clients are offered first-line interventions demonstrated to be effective for the problems they want help with. 3) Therapy is a collaborative process in which the client and psychologist work as equals to define and achieve the client’s goals.
Mark has a particular interest in using CBT and exposure-based therapies for the treatment of anxiety problems across the lifespan (ages 6+). These include obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, social anxiety, agoraphobia/panic disorder, generalised anxiety, and post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSD).
He has a secondary interest in working with adolescents and adults (15+) experiencing challenges associated with personality disorders (particularly BPD), emotional dysregulation, suicidality, and complex trauma using a long-term intervention called schema therapy.
Above all, Mark aims to provide a warm, accepting, and collaborative environment that helps clients achieve meaningful and enduring change in their lives. You can expect to feel supported and clear about the process of therapy when working with Mark.
