Ms Alena Annabel

Psychologist

At Annabel Psychology my aim is to help every one of my clients enhance their potential to live life healthy, happy and more connected to loved ones and community. I can assist you achieve positive and sustainable outcomes by understanding the origin of psychological issues. Once understanding is achieved and dysfunctional patterns are identified I help clients challenge the validity of negative patterns of thought and generate new belief systems that promote better outcomes. I am registered as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society. Psychological intervention is provided via Skype. This means that I can keep fees low ($130 per session) and you can engage in therapy from the comfort of your own home at a time that suits you. I provide early morning, evening and weekend appointments. This also means that I cannot provide psychological intervention to clients who have a mental health care plan from their GP. Unfortunately, Medicare currently requires these interventions to be conducted face to face. In accordance with Australian Psychological Society guidelines I use evidence-based treatments for a broad range of psychological and emotional difficulties and use an integrated approach to counselling, incorporating a number of psychological therapies under the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) umbrella to assist clients in overcoming their struggles. I work in a collaborative manner assisting client achieve the goals they have set for therapy being mindful of working at a pace and style you feel comfortable with being mindful of your budget constraints. The sudden, overwhelming stress of traumatic events can produce harmful emotional and physical responses in even the most level headed person. I am experienced and understanding in helping people through these types of situations. To ensure that intervention is optimally successful clients need to be willing and able to complete homework activities or access E-Mental Health websites assigned after a therapy session to practice techniques and strategies. This will ensure the learning from the therapy session is cemented and help you achieve additional self-discovery As interventions are not in an office we will need to discuss and reach agreement on certain constraints that are different from face to face sessions. This will include how to manage your flight or fight response if a trigger is activated for you during the session; confidentiality issues if you are feeling suicidal; and confidentiality of email transmissions. What you will need: Access to Skype, an email address; a credit card. Client Booking Fee: A fixed non-refundable booking fee of $30 is applicable for all clients to confirm their appointments; it covers administration costs related to preparing sessions, interpreting psychological tests used to monitor progress, communicating with others involved in your treatment program, bank charges for processing Medicare or private health fund rebates, and any costs incurred if we have to chase up late cancellation or missed appointment fees. It will be deducted from the cost of the session and allows me to keep per-session fees lower than average (please note that the recommended fee for consultations with psychologists is $238 per session of 45-60 minutes). Cancellation Policy 24-hours' notice is required if appointments need to be changed or cancelled. This gives me time to offer that appointment to someone else on my waiting list who may be waiting for an earlier appointment. It is also a courtesy so I am not losing time waiting for you. My usual late cancellation and missed appointment policies apply.
