Anna is a counsellor and lifelong resident of the Huon Valley, with a deep commitment to the wellbeing of all people in our local community. She enjoys working with clients of any age and is particularly skilled in supporting those who may find it difficult to seek help, and are concerned that nobody will understand the struggles they face. Anna believes that every person should feel valued and heard, and provides calm and thoughtful understanding, a safe place to discuss life’s challenges, develop courage and strength, and build greater happiness and contentment.
Anna completed a bachelor of arts with majors in psychology and philosophy in 2010, a graduate diploma in counselling in 2013, and is now in the process of completing an honours year in psychology. Her work draws on the combined knowledge of these disciplines, with a strong commitment to connected and flexible client focused therapy, underpinned by the principles of psychological science. Anna uses a range of techniques and approaches depending on client need and preference. She has training and particular interest in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), a trauma sensitive therapy that has many applications and particular benefit for people who experience depression that has not responded easily to other treatments. Anna is a member of the Compassionate Mind Foundation, an international charity dedicated to the scientific understanding of compassion and its therapeutic applications.
