Hi, I'm Edie Mortensen, an accredited mental health social worker and qualified counsellor/psychotherapist. I have been working in counselling practice since 2009. My private practice, Adelaide Women’s Trauma and Grief Therapy, provides support for all trauma and grief experiences including both recent and historical, PTSD, complex trauma, sexual and domestic violence recovery, bereavement and non-death losses. I work relationally and from a trauma and attachment informed and compassion focused approach, using evidence based focused psychological strategies modalities. I have an interest in women’s mental health, while also offering support to people of all gender identities and cultural backgrounds. In addition to my grief and trauma counselling practice, I offer personal and professional support to early career social workers and counsellors, including a personal therapy-for-therapists service, and also clinical supervision to early career social workers, particularly those interested in trauma, grief and intersections with mental health and wellbeing, and clinical support underpinned by social justice-oriented and anti-oppressive values. Appointment booking details: • Day time and evening appointments available for in-person counselling Tuesday to Saturday, or online via Zoom where counselling would be suitable for Telehealth based support. • Rooms are located close to Crafers and Stirling in the inner Adelaide Hills, approximately 17 mins from the Adelaide CBD, street address will be provided on booking an appointment. • Fees are $175 per 60 minute session. • I reserve some spaces in my schedule for people eligible for a concession rate, please get in contact with me to enquire about availability. • Medicare rebates are available for people with a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from a GP, which provides rebates for up to 10 sessions per year. • For a standard 60 minute session fee of $175, the out-of-pocket cost after the Medicare rebate of $87.25 is $87.75. • I reserve a number of places in my schedule to provide Medicare bulk-billing for adult victim-survivors of sexual violence in childhood or adulthood who would like to access counselling via a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from a GP, and where the cost of therapy would otherwise pose a genuine access barrier. • I also reserve a number of places in my schedule for students enrolled in formal social work and counselling/psychotherapy university degrees who would like to access the therapy for therapists service via a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from a GP, and where the cost of therapy would otherwise pose a genuine access barrier. I recognise that self-care for social workers and counsellors is both a personal practice and a shared commitment - one that services and organisations can also help enable, in a general sense and where barriers exist, by creating opportunities and structures where it's not just encouraged, but embedded. • Please contact me to discuss your counselling needs before asking your GP to create a Mental Health Treatment Plan so that I can confirm my availability. • Private health insurance rebates are available for a wide range of funds. Please check with your policy to confirm if your cover includes therapy from an accredited mental health social worker. • Self or plan managed NDIS participants are also welcomed. • Clinical supervision fees are $145 per hour. • I provide a free 15-minute initial phone consultation to discuss your counselling needs, and it’s important that you can get a sense if we will be a good fit to work together.
