Shobie is a Counselling Social Worker who is passionate about helping adolescents and adults lead rich, full and meaningful lives. During her career, she has lived and worked in regional and remote Australia, in Venezuela and Chile and in indigenous Australian communities. For the last four years, Shobie has worked intensively with adolescents and adults in the Bendigo region with a range of mental health presentations.
She utilises therapies and techniques which enable individuals to change behaviour patterns, gain and retain hope and achieve personal autonomy and engagement in an active, values guided life. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT therapy), Narrative Therapy, Emotion Coaching, Schema Therapy and Mindfulness. She has experience and training in ACT and CBT specifically for adolescents and therefore has an appreciation of the vulnerability of this unique developmental period.
Shobie has also lead Trauma Informed Critical Incident Responses utilising Mitchell’s Critical Incident Stress Debrief framework, and provided Mental Health Education for organisations and groups.
Shobie is working towards receiving Medicare Accreditation to provide clients Medicare rebates for therapeutic engagement.
