Overview

I am a Clinical Psychologist with a practice in Fourways, Gauteng. It has been the culmination of 8 years of studying and training, and I’ve been in private practice for over 14 years. The reason that i became a psychologist is because I believe that everyone has the capacity to change, irrespective of how difficult it is to do so. When i was chosen to enter the clinical psychology programme (many, many years ago), it was based on my individual capacity of resilience and determination. Being a clinical psychologist exposes you to severe mental issues and shows you how broken people can be. Yet through the process of hitting rock bottom, becoming non-functional, the human spirit of wanting to succeed and to triumph often shows through and even now, it never ceases to amaze me. I facilitate change in a supportive environment that allows people to grow at their own pace in their personal lives, relationships and careers. There is no prescriptive recipe for therapy (in my world). Each person is unique, with their own set of challenges, personality and circumstances – so there’s no set formula for treatment. The facilitation and guidance in a therapy session results in me being able to mirror back content that the client might not be aware of. This results in a series of actions and insights that can be worked on. It is a person centered approach to therapy. I work mainly with entrepreneurs, high functioning corporate executives and those experiencing relationship issues (and recently with interracial type relationships). My special areas of interest include couples counselling, interracial relationship issues, anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, eating disorders. Over time, clients find the ability and capacity to achieve their goals and become happier and more content.
