Overview

Michelle is a skilled and experienced Counsellor and Relationship Therapist who sees both couples and individual clients ages 12+. Michelle is a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). She is not eligible for Medicare rebates. Michelle is gentle, yet goal-oriented in session, and draws upon her rich array of personal and professional experiences to hold space for her clients. Michelle has worked in domestic and family violence, youth homelessness, and with couples. Michelle utilises a variety of modalities, and is adaptable to the client’s needs. Michelle operates using a trauma-informed and strengths based framework, often utilising elements of Attachment Theory to help contexualise the client’s experience. She is able to integrate the use of creative and expressive interventions, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and somatic work. In her couple’s work, Michelle utilises the Gottman method, an evidence and research based relationship framework. A thorough assessment of the couple’s relationship is conducted, with interventions applied based on the Sound Relationship House. Michelle believes couples doing counselling can have a huge, positive ripple effect on all things in their lives. Michelle is passionate about demystifying the counselling process and reducing the stigma of it being a ‘scary place’. While it can be a place for difficult, challenging conversations, it can also be a deeply rewarding journey of growth, love and learning. Michelle wants you to feel safe to tell your story, share your goals and perhaps even have a few laughs as we engage in the therapeutic process. Michelle lives with her partner, and has poodles named Spinifex and Polly. Polly was named after the television show Fawlty Towers, and Spinifex…well that’s a long story! In her spare time, Michelle enjoys Sip and Paint classes, watching comedy, and doing yin yoga.
