Overview

Dr. Choon-Hwa Lim l Telehealth Psychologist l Medicare Provider l Individual and Couple Therapist l TRTP (The Richards Trauma Process) Practitioner. I am an Australian psychologist with over 20 years of experience. I treat adults with stress, anxiety and depression from burnout (having unrealistically high expectations of self and others, being perfectionistic and overly driven, feeling lost), relationship and family issues, grief and loss, singleness, and/or trauma (consciously or unconsciously arising from childhood experiences in the family or school, toxic relationships, bullying and discrimination in the workplace, or simply being in a constantly high-pressured, high-performing, demanding or negative environment). My treatment uses a combination of cognitive, behavioural, relaxation, interpersonal and experiential strategies and practical skills. The approach I take incorporates your stage of life, culture and faith. These are evidence-based, and grounded in my lived experiences living and working in corporates here and overseas for 15 years before becoming a psychologist. If you are over 18 years old and any of these issues is interfering with your health and happiness, relationships or your performance and achievements at work or in your studies, it will be a privilege to walk alongside you to encourage, help and guide you to believe in your potential to find your way out of your difficulties. I will teach you to become resourceful, share knowledge on psychological strategies and equip you with skills to become confident in your own ability and to believe in yourself. Together, we seek a direction and sense of meaning for your life and empower you to make choices that enhance your personal or professional wellbeing. My goal for your therapy is to help you recover and be resourceful and resilient, with a sense of purpose and fulfilment. Relationship counselling for individuals and couples are based on the developmental model that enhances unity through self-empowerments. I am registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency, and I am a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc. My qualifications include a PhD (Culture and Communication), an MA with 1st class Honours (Psychology) and a Bachelor of Commerce. I am a practitioner member of TRTP (The Richards Trauma Process). Sessions are conducted via MS TEAMS and in English only.
