Overview

Brooke brings a warm, genuine and empathic approach to her work with clients. She works hard to create a safe and supportive space for clients where they feel heard and understood. Brooke and her clients work together as a team to create greater self-awareness, self-compassion, skills and confidence to make lasting life changes. Her non-judgemental, flexible and practical approach are informed not only by her extensive training but also by a full and varied life experience. Brooke tailors therapy to each individual by incorporating personal preferences and the latest evidence-based research and practices. She guides clients to manage problems that are affecting their lives in the moment and also to gain insight into the root-causes of difficulties so that deep transformations can occur. Brooke supports clients experiencing a wide range of issues, with particular expertise in addressing: - Trauma – recent and/or past complex trauma including abuse, neglect and emotional mis-attunement - Eating concerns such as binge-eating, over-eating and bulimia nervosa - Addiction and substance use issues - Chronic pain - Emotional difficulties such as dysregulation and feeling overwhelmed - Family and relationship concerns - Depression - Anxiety including worry, panic, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and phobias - Work and study-related stress Brooke has specialised training in: - Cognitive behaviour therapy - Acceptance and commitment therapy - Dialectical behaviour therapy - Schema therapy - Narrative therapy - Attachment-informed therapies Brooke has completed six years of intensive formal training in psychology during which she was awarded a university medal for outstanding scholarship (University of Western Sydney, 2009). Brooke has experience working in clinical research settings delivering assessment and treatment for a wide range of anxiety and mood concerns, emotion dysregulation and relationship issues. She also gained experience working within a multi-disciplinary team at Royal North Shore Hospital delivering individual and group-based interventions for chronic pain. Brooke has worked with children and their parents individually and in groups to overcome issues such as anxiety, divorce and separation, social skills deficits and behavioural problems.
